On the first Sunday of each month all are welcome to gather for prayer before worship at 8:45 AM in the 3rd-4th grade room of Odyssey School. MOTHERLOVE DONATION DRIVE :: THROUGH NOVEMBER 24

MotherLove is a program that seeks to help pregnant and parenting teens stay in school, graduate, access higher education and vocational training, and develop the skills and knowledge needed to become strong parents and delay another teen pregnancy. The program is committed to ensuring bright futures for teen parents and their families. In light of this, we’re accepting donations for the MotherLove supply closet during October and November. They are in need of pacifiers, newborn boy or gender-neutral clothing, wipes, and diapers. Please look for a bin in the lobby on Sundays to donate or speak with Kelley Caruso (Kelleyrcaruso@gmail.com) if you have any questions.

HOMEWARD BOUND COLLECTION :: THROUGH NOVEMBER 17

Homeward Bound exists to end chronic homelessness in Western North Carolina. As winter approaches, there is an emergent need for blankets, hand warmers, and mylar blankets for those who nevertheless remain unsheltered. Please consider donating over the next two weeks by visiting Homeward Bound in person (205 Elk Park Dr., Woodfin, NC 28804) or bring these items to church. You may also visit homewardboundwnc.org to give financial support. Please reach out to John Hopple if you have any questions (john@citychurchavl.org).

CHURCH-WIDE POTLUCK :: SUNDAY, MARCH 31

Directly following the service on Sunday, March 31 we will have a church-wide potluck at the Odyssey School (rain or shine). Bar-B-Cue and a vegetarian entrée will be provided by City Church, as well as lemonade and water. We ask that the congregation contribute side items of their choosing. Limited refrigeration will be available. Please bring an item that will hold through the service. This is a great opportunity to invite friends, family, and co-workers to our service. For more information, please contact John Hopple (john@citychurchavl.org).

AN AFTERNOON AT CAMP GREYSTONE :: SUNDAY, AUGUST 12

Please join us for a fun afternoon and early evening at Camp Greystone near Flat Rock, NC (80 Apple Hill Lane, Zirconia, NC 28790). Come as early as 1:00 PM and stay until after dark (S’mores!). There’ll be water sports (canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, a waterslide, etc.), yard games (corn hole, frisbee golf, human-sized chess/checkers, etc.), and plenty of space to hang out in hammocks and by the fire pit. There’s a shelter and plenty of play space so the party will happen rain or shine. [Note: no lifeguards will be on duty.]

We’ll provide water, lemonade, and beverage cups, but please BRING YOUR OWN PICNIC DINNER. We’ll eat around 5:30 PM.

A GOOD PIE IS HARD TO FIND :: FRIDAY, AUGUST 24
